Schoppe’s Tax Service Inc., based in the Central Texas town of Cameron, is a hometown, family-run business offering professional tax services state and nation-wide at a reasonable price. Like many small businesses, we started out in our family living room and grew from there. Since then, we have been in business for over 30 years, and we offer more than 35 years of experience.

Michael Schoppe has been active in the bookkeeping profession for over 30 years.

His knowledge of good bookkeeping procedures started with his education at Temple Junior College in Temple, TX, and Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. Over the years, he has continued his education at such notable universities at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte and Pepperdine University at Malibu, CA. Attending various tax seminars and workshops each tax season keeps Michael abreast of the ever changing income tax laws.

Michael has gained invaluable experience having worked for a local National Bank for eight years bringing much financial insight into the business and is important in helping our clients with their every day financial decisions.

Michael is committed to being at the cutting edge of technology in the running of the business. He is continually looking at better and more efficient ways of producing bookkeeping and income tax products that are second to none. By using the internet and government on-line filing sites, a more efficient and timely filing of returns and payment of taxes is accomplished.

In 2007, Michael became an Enrolled Agent. An Enrolled Agent (EA) is a federally-authorized tax practitioner who has technical expertise in the field of taxation and who is empowered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to represent taxpayers before all administrative levels of the Internal Revenue Service for audits, collections, and appeals. As an EA, Michael is now able to effectively represent taxpayers audited by the IRS.

JoAnn Schoppe is key to the business in office management responsibilities. She has worked in bookkeeping and professional office environments for over 20 years.

Her experience comes from having worked for a CPA firm for several years and other professional office environments. She, like Michael, attends seminars for bookkeeping, office management and income tax annually so that she can be sure the firms bookkeeping and tax clients are getting the best professional service possible. She is key to the firm in scheduling appointments, working with clients in the day-to-day operation of the business and keeping the busy office running smoothly.
